Nina Purtee My passions are traveling and history and my books are filled with both! But I think I love getting to know my characters best!
Nina Purtee Keep your writing fresh and stick with your convictions. And don’t give up. Get it on paper. It doesn’t have to be perfect the first run through, or the second or third for that matter.
Nina Purtee When I am totally into the subject that I am writing about, my fingers take on a life of their own while typing. If I start to head down the wrong path, my fingers (and brain) dry up on me. When that happens, I have to backtrack and go back to where it was working and begin fresh!
Nina Purtee There is a great deal to do to prepare "Finding Sarah" for the publisher. "Crossing Paths" is due out by the first of June. Plus marketing efforts for "Beyond the Sea!" Finding time to write at the moment is a bit challenging. I have written the first chapter, though!
Nina Purtee So many things inspire me but my characters develop such individual personalities in my mind that they inspire me most. A quote from a silly little film with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, "Joe Versus the Volcano" had a line in it that has stayed with me. "Most of the people in this world are asleep. But those who are truly awake live in a constant state of amazement." I wake up every day ready to be amazed!
Nina Purtee From my first novel, "Beyond the Sea: Annie's Journey into the Extraordinary", I discovered a colorful group of characters that begged to be developed further. In the sequel, "Crossing Paths: Road to Destiny", several of those characters were joined by a small new characters. By the end of Crossing Paths, the character of Sarah intrigued me to the point I really needed to know her back story before I could move on. I have just completed writing "Finding Sarah: A Phoenix to Behold."
