Do lots of research about the people that you want help with for your book. Also, don't make any rash decisions about your book, both writing and promoting. I made a lot of impulsive decisions that cost me more than helped me in the long run. Also, write what you want. Don't base your story on what you think someone else would like.

The best thing about being a writer is the freedom. You can write whatever you want, wherever you want, and whenever you want. It allows me to channel my overactive imagination.

I usually take a step back and try to eat a snack or watch a movie that might be similar to the genre of my book so I can still keep it in mind. If I don't want to step away or can't I will put on music that I feel like conveys the feeling of the scene I'm writing, much like a movie.
