Tecia McLaughlin Hi! Thank you for your question. Since I'm new to this, I'm still navigating what it feels like when someone says, "This is awful!" I take the reviews seriously, but it doesn't hurt my feelings if someone doesn't like my style or stories. I don't like most books that other people love! I'll keep writing because it's so fun, and also because I love connecting with people. If I start getting a bunch of negative reviews, I'll pick up a new hobby.

Tecia McLaughlin My family and I lived in a haunted house from 2000 until 2011. We moved when our home was destroyed by a tornado. There were so many mysterious and spooky things that happened in that house, yet we stayed. It's kinda weird, but we loved the house and the yard so much that we were willing to just accept everything that came with it.

Let me know if you have ever experienced paranormal activity! When and where?
Tecia McLaughlin If you want to write, just start writing. You can't submit a book to a publishing company if you haven't written it. Plain and simple. Write for you and no one else. Don't go in with any expectations other than you want to be proud of yourself for starting and finishing something that matters to you!

Publishing a book is a long process. Sometimes sad things happen in the middle of your writing, and you just want to stop. It's okay to stop! Writing is therapy, and if it ever becomes a bother or something you dread, regroup, but don't give up.

A lot of people have come to me lately and said they have always wanted to write a book. My questions is "what's stopping you?" Is it time, fear, or worry? My advice is to you is to open your computer and let your fingers do the talking!
Tecia McLaughlin The best thing about being a writer is seeing someone using your book to take special "me time" for themselves. I love that in my little corner of the world, I put words on a piece of paper that a reader is now enjoying in their little corner of the world.
Tecia McLaughlin Staring into the deep dark hole, Amy could see something slimy slumped over against the wall. Her instinct said walk away, but instead, something pulsed inside her and she lowered herself into the darkness.
hahahaha!
Tecia McLaughlin Honestly, I wake up wanting to write. Life gets in the way of me being able to just write, because I am a wife, mother, wedding planner and photographer. One thing I have to do in order to get in the zone, is tidy up my studio, turn on some mood lights, and get a hot cup of coffee or tea.

I then sit with some soothing music, like the spa station, and put myself into the book with the characters. I think about where I left off and how the characters were feeling. My Boston Terrier, Fergie, usually sits between my legs, hampering my comfortability, but it's perfect.
Tecia McLaughlin I am notorious for making a list and knocking things out all week. One day, I woke up and kept saying over and over in my mind "Why am I walking aimlessly in no direction today?"

In order to clear my mind, I sat down at the computer and began to type "Selal walked aimlessly in the direction of her new apartment." I didn't know at that point WHAT would happen as she walked, or what she would find when she got there.

With every page, I just began creating "things" that were happening, and before I knew it, it was a book. I sent it to a few publishers, and Olympia Publishing said "we like it!"
