If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod Tattooine. I'd try and become a Jedi, like Ahsoka or Yoda.

Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod What if the ultra-Conservative Radical Christian Nationalist elements of the Republican Party ruled the world without any checks and balances or obstacles in their way? How might a lesbian slave create a resistance movement to bring freedom and democracy to that fascist dystopia?

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod Seeing my stories and books and novels in the hands of others. Knowing that my stories and novels are being enjoyed and not just sitting around in my head or on a shelf collecting dust somewhere.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod Write what you know. Read a lot. Get out into the world and experience life and explore as much as you can. Life is good fuel for inspiration and story ideas. Don't be afraid of your own words. Everyone has a story to tell and so long as you tell your story honestly, you will be okay.

How do you get inspired to write?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod I often start with a question I want to ask myself or the reader-- such as, "What if a grandmother was a vampire to a child with special needs?" Sometimes I will read a book or watch a movie that might inspire me to see my own stories or ideas through a different lens.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod "Frostbite" is based on an original fantasy setting I used in my own Dungeons and Dragons campaign with friends. The plot and storyline were based on characters and ideas I had developed thirteen years prior to publication of the book. I was also challenged by a friend, Lindsay Emblidge, to write her a fantasy novel.

What are you currently working on?
Rachel Conlin-McLeod I have a sequel to "Frostbite" in the very early stages. I also have a Kindle Vella I am working on entitled, "Silent Uproar" about a Deaf teenager in search of her parents' killer. She is helped by a psychic detective. I also have a dystopian novel I am working on entitled, "Acquisition".
