Honestly, it all started with exactly how the new book starts: a discovered body. I don't know where I got the idea for it, but when I did, I suddenly realized I had an idea for my first murder mystery. Then I started asking questions about the whos, the whys, the hows, etc, and it eventually fell into place.

A lot of times, it's just a matter of thinking of something to write and feeling the need to get it down. It'll drive me nuts if something keeps rolling around in my head. The only way to silence that noise is to write.

Nothing right now. Depression has been hitting me hard in the last few months, so it's hard to find the motivation.

You get the create work that you would want to read. At the very least, you are entertaining yourself with whatever you write.

Put the work on the backburner for a short while (maybe a week) and come back to it. Keep thinking about it, though. Do some research on the subject you're writing about. It may spark that idea you were missing.

Write. Just write. Even if you think it's crap, write. Even if it actually IS crap, write. Don't be that person that says "Yeah, I'm thinking about it." Be the person who's actually writing it.
