My former agent and I mulled it. Not my M.O., but it was a shove in the right direction for me. A bit of "ripped from the headlines" action was involved too. Also, I wanted a different kind of hero, one more open and confident. Not brooding or mysterious or dangerous--except when it came to the FMC's heart. ;) Ethan Leeds [The Importance of Extracurriculars & Other Assumptions] (book 5) is all that, but... maybe not.

I got sick, bedrest sick, and it turns out I didn't have the skill or patience for knitting. Lord, I tried. I started to tap out a story on my laptop. It isn't hyperbole when I say I think it saved my life.

All my focus now is getting my debut out of the nest, but I'm eager to revise my next story... and she NEEDS revising. However, books three and four are nearly ready, and book five is waiting in the wings. Book six is living rent-free in my mind, but it will be a minute before I get it out of my head. It's a winter holiday story that (so far) has no connection to any of the others, so it could butt in line depending on the calendar. Who knows?

Do it for the love of it, not to chase trends, and definitely not for the paycheck. Catching trends is luck, and the paycheck sucks, at least in the early days.

It's a creative outlet my personality needs. I suppose the flexibility of the schedule is nice, but if the words are flowing, DO NOT BOTHER ME. Lol.

I have to walk away and hope my characters come back to me. I do not plot, which leaves me at the mercy of the figments of imagination. I panic every time, but they always come around in the end. So far, anyway.
