Pretty much every aspect, to be honest. The multiple rewrites, changing the completed manuscript from third person past tense to first person present, but perhaps the hardest was the perseverance required to keep going for more than twelve years.

Luckily, I rarely get it. When I do, a couple of days off usually does the trick.

Finishing a book. Which is also the worst thing because then you have to promote it. And wait for reviews. I really don't want to put anyone off, but writing is seriously hard work and you're in it for the long haul. On a good day, however. Nothing comes to close to the exhilaration and sense of achievement it brings. For me, writing is art for arts sake.

I'm what's known as a 'pantser' rather than a 'plotter'. It means I write by the seat-of-my-pants not knowing what I'm going to write about on any given day. I sit. I write. Plotters usually have whole books planned out in advance chapter by chapter. Different strokes for different folks.
