Lucy Lyons I just can't stop thinking about the next scene, the next plotline, visualising it in my head. I tend to write scenes rather than chapters, and not necessarily in the right order!
Lucy Lyons Hard to believe that I now have two books out and am working on the third Finding Machine book, set in the year 2000. It is called The Noughty Spy. From there, I have an idea to write a haunted house book as Book number 4!
Lucy Lyons It's really easy to waste days looking at 'how-to' guides and forums, and reading all about other writers who reached success. But you have to do it your way, and the only way you'll end up with a finished novel is if you write. So make time for the writing. And good luck!
Lucy Lyons I get a great deal of inspiration from film and TV. The idea for The Finding Machine started percolating while I was watching 'Superman' (for the umpteenth time). I started thinking what superhero power I'd have, if I could have anything. The ability to fly? Healing people? I couldn't come up with anything that felt right for a novel. Co-incidentally, the next night, I watched the excellent Mackenzie Crook in 'Dectectorists' and that's when it hit me. Finding things. And not necessarily treasure.
