Due to the beauty and accessibility of the internet, it's probably close to 5:1. % hrs spent seriously writing to each hour of research. Most of my research is done in point form. So, in I, James when I wanted to write about the spices that Rosalind used... I researched the trade routes of the day and found the Spice Islands ( Indonesia) and China in the trade routes.

Different books give different inspiration. I once wrote a series called Harrtners in America. The inspiration for that series came from looking at the various genealogical eras, and finding things that would inspire others.
Currently I am writing The Eternity Series. Inspiration for the series comes from listening to the characters. Timing is after all are asleep, and the inspiration comes when I desperately need to relax.

To me, writer's block means there is something more in the section that I must concentrate on. Some times it's research. Other times it's wording. So, I concentrate one that particular aspect, and then move on once the block releases.
