How do you deal with writer’s block?
Mayra Barry Only once, I had writer's block on my second book. I did the only thing I could think of at the time....PRAY. :)

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Mayra Barry For me, I have always loved writing...poems, short stories, etc... It never crossed my mind that I would be writing books someday. Now that I know I can, the best thing about writing is I get to write about what I envision (in story format, of course).

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Mayra Barry Never give up. That motion picture playing in your mind is a gifting you have within you. It's what makes it easy when writing. The hard part is how to write in a form readers can understand what you are seeing. :)

What are you currently working on?
Mayra Barry I just published my very first book, 'Victory', from my first series, Kemet Island Series. I am currently working on the second book of the series.

How do you get inspired to write?
Mayra Barry It was a surprise to me. One day I had a story dream, and when I woke up, I wondered what it meant. Being a Christian woman, I decided to ask God in prayer what the dream represented. Not only did I get surprised when it was revealed to me, but was shocked when He beckoned me to write about it. :)

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Mayra Barry Actually, the idea of my first series I am starting (1st book published, 'Victory') came from the story of the biblical Joseph. It was like a movie playing in my head.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Mayra Barry I would love to visit the Island of Kemet which is in my new series. The vision in my head makes the island intriguing and fascinating. Wish I could be there in real life. :)
