J.W.S. Getty She turned her head to listen, for she must have been mistaken. Seconds later, there it was ... scratching from inside the coffin.
J.W.S. Getty An independent book I've heard good things about, The Perpetual Now by Jerome J Bourgault. I've never read any Stephen Fry books, but I've always enjoyed listening to him whenever he speaks, I have The Liar on my shelf and I look forward to reading it.
J.W.S. Getty I am constantly day-dreaming; Walter Mitty ain't got nothin' on me. I've often wondered what would happen if a serious day-dreamer such as myself suddenly had every power he ever wished for. Not exactly an original idea, but it draws me in just the same. It's not a mystery in my life, but a minor obsession. What if?
J.W.S. Getty I had written a short play called The Mystery of Christmas Magic. In that play, my niece played a snow leopard that could control winter weather. My wife suggested I write a new play. I asked my niece, "what would you like to be in this one?" She said, "A Tiger that is looking for Cleopatra's Tomb." I had to create other characters so that my other niece and I had roles to play, then that world keep expanding and unfolding and what was supposed to be short, one-act play, turned into a novel.
J.W.S. Getty I'll often just think about the world I've created, how it could change, be better. Sometimes, I'll think about these things for days or weeks, not really in an organized way; like I'm lazily adding ingredients to a long simmering soup ... then I start to write.
J.W.S. Getty When I first wrote Cleopatra's Tomb and the Regit Tigers of Egypt, I didn't plan a sequel. But after the substantive edit, and the adding of the second last chapter, a sequel is a must. Right now, it's in the thinking stage, soon I will start to writing it.
J.W.S. Getty Don't worry about the quality of your writing. Just start. And it's never too late, I wrote my novel at the age of 57; don't think it's too late for you. If you're alive and have an idea, put it down, bring it to life.
J.W.S. Getty I feel like I've always had an active imagination/wish list. With writing, I can make those wishes come true. I can create the world I wish I lived in.
J.W.S. Getty Just keep going, no matter what you're writing, no matter how horrible it is, the act of writing itself will help you get out of that jam. You can always edit or throw away the garbage, but writing will lead to writing.
J.W.S. Getty I would love to travel to the Harry Potter world, visit Diagon Alley, and ask if there is an adult learning programme at Hogwarts.
