Steve Harvey A handbook of best practices in public discourse and a treatise on a paradigm addressing the challenge of mobilizing our wisdom and humanity through political and cultural processes, both related to my nonprofit, "The Transcendental Politics Foundation."
Steve Harvey Write, and do it for the intrinsic satisfaction of doing it.
Steve Harvey The imagination is the essence of human consciousness, and human consciousness is the essence of our humanity. The best thing about being a writer is that it makes my world and universe --and my own humanity-- as large as my imagination.
Steve Harvey I either write or I don't write. "Writer's block" is, to me, the choice not to write, which I sometimes make for a variety of reasons, some not very good ones. If I want to overcome writer's block, therefore, I just write. If I don't just write, I didn't really want to overcome writer's block.
Steve Harvey "With disheveled hair and glassy eyes, Dr. Frankenstein yelled, 'It's alive!' while holding the baby he just delivered above his head." Mary Shelley reread the sentence she had just written and, sure she would lose the bet she made while in a Swiss chateau with her famous intimates, crumbled the paper into a ball and just gave up altogether.
Steve Harvey Clearly, I'd travel to Calambria (the ancient-Greek-like fictional world of my novel, "A Conspiracy of Wizards"). I'm too old to follow in Algonion's footsteps, but I would at least visit Evenstar and, probably, become involved in the politics of the city-state of Boalus.

(Middle Earth would be a close second.)
Steve Harvey I'm currently reading "Upheaval" by Jarred Diamond. I was reading "East of Eden" (Steinbeck) with my daughter earlier in the summer, but she was busy with more summer homework and reading (for her IB program) than she anticipated, so we're saving the rest for Christmas break. I read "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari earlier in the summer. It was mostly a nonfiction summer. (Both "Sapiens" and "Upheaval" are great books, "Sapiens" one of the best nonfiction books I've ever read.)
