Isabel Maher I got the idea of "The Prosperous Exams" from my own experience at school. Last year, I was feeling my lowest because of school. I was in a very important year for exams and was constantly drained doing homework, pleasing my teachers, dealing with not having friends, following stupid rules to avoid trouble, etc... I always wished I could rebel against it all, but I was too afraid.
That's when I decided that writing a book where my main character rebels against the whole school system would help me get through the year, and increase the stigma that some people find school much more difficult than others. Writing this book has definitely helped me get through it all!
Isabel Maher Kind of stupid ways, like watching Tik Tok edits and imagining them in my book's context, listening to the book's music playlist, adding to my Pinterest board and also reading my comfort books and watching my comfort movies.
Isabel Maher I haven't begun writing it yet, but I'm planning to write a horror book over the summer. It is my all-time favourite genre along with romance and dystopia. I'm hoping the story I plan to tell will impress fellow horror fans and not be too clichéd!
Isabel Maher My advice would be to not let others stop you from doing it if it is your passion. I was very hesitant to write my book at first because the school I go to has some incredibly condescending people, who always judge someone for no reason. Writing a book is seen as "weird" and "goody-goody."
Because of this, I put off writing this book for a long time. I then realised, who are they to judge my talent?
Being able to write creatively is an incredible skill that nobody should make fun of you for, as they could never do it themselves. Don't let those people stop you from getting your work out there and always think, there WILL be people who will love it.
(They'll also regret everything when you become a best-seller ;) )
Isabel Maher For me, it's the freedom of creativity. When you write something, your work is your own. There is no right or wrong answer. Yes, it is great when you get critiques, but it's not like school where your work is either right or wrong.
No matter what suggestions you receive, you know your book better than anyone else at the end of the day. Having that freedom is extremely euphoric.
I also find writing as escapism from things like school, drama and every-day stuff like that. My mother wants me to take a little break from writing as I have important exams coming up, but I don't think that'll be possible, due to the tranquility it will give me after a long day of studying!
Isabel Maher I'll usually just read or watch a bunch of my favourite films to get that creative ball rolling again. I'll also write some fun dialogue prompts that'll be enjoyable to write, and they'll give me motivation to keep going.
Isabel Maher I'm already planning a horror story! Here is the plot in two sentences:

"This counselling group is my last resort, as it is said to heal people's mental anguish within days. I've also heard that some people were never heard of again after attending only a couple of sessions...."
Isabel Maher I would 100% go to Hogwarts. Just like any other person, I was obsessed with Harry Potter as a pre-teen. Even now, reading the series or watching the films brings so much comfort. I used to always make scenarios in my head of me being in Hogwarts and joining Harry and the gang on their adventures. I'd definitely be a Gryffindor, because all I'd wanna do is sneak around the place, breaking the rules and taking advantage of all the magic this universe has to offer.
Isabel Maher Funnily enough, I've never made a TBR list. This I will have to do at some point.
I definitely want to buy more books from self-published authors. I love supporting them and giving their books the attention they deserve.
Other popular books I might consider reading are "twisted love" (and it's squeals if I enjoy them) and I might check out "The Silent Patient."
Isabel Maher That's a tough question. My life is too ordinary lol.
Maybe something cheesy like "why don't I look anything like my twin brother?" haha
