“WHEN DARKNESS FALLS is a trilogy; that is, one sweeping story divided into three books. They're not meant as stand-alones; they're meant to be read in order, and books 1 & 2 have cliffhangers! ”

The one I'm currently writing (not editing/revising) the heroine was a secondary character in another novel. She was so darned funny, and such a delight to write, it just kind of... well... happened! She wound up with her own story!! She's a shapeshifter, and hangs out as a calico Maine Coon cat with some awesome cattitude. In fact, it's harder for me to write her human self just because her cat self is so hilarious.

Honestly, it's more the other way around.. I'm always inspired to write, and tend to live in my own little world in my head, it's "life" that gets in the way of the inspiration. I don't remember a time when I didn't have stories running around in my head wanting to be written.

I've just finished a 3-book Arabian Nights style fantasy romance... (1 story in 3 parts, not a stand-alone series). Now I get to start on revisions and edits, more revisions, more edits... more... you get the picture :)

Write. Don't listen to anyone tell you you can't. If you WANT to be a writer, then just do it. Find supportive people to be around, other writers, etc. This is IMPORTANT especially if your family isn't supportive. Even for us reclusive, introverted writers (I am one), having support really is important. Find some good bloggers/vloggers who give GREAT advice and listen to/read what they have to say (Jenna Moreci and Travis McBee for example). And write. Even if you doubt. Write anyway. Even if it's not perfect, get it down anyway; you can edit it later, but there's no way to edit a blank page. So... write, find support, and don't listen to naysayers. DO it.

Bringing my characters and their stories to life. It gives me a complete charge every time, it's so exciting to write and discover the story as I go along. It's like a voyage of discovery, and while (since I write romance) I may know the ultimate destination, how they get there is a mystery that it's up to me to unravel, and I LOVE it!

I go back to the manuscript and read-through and do editing which, face it, is going to have to be done anyway, so as long as I'm having trouble writing forward, so to speak, I might as well still be productive, plus it keeps my head in the story and at some point the writer's block will clear up and I'll be off and running again.
