What books are on your summer reading list this year?
Jan Lloyd I am busy reading as much information on Arbella Stuart at present and will hopefully publish a book on this topic in the first half of this year.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Jan Lloyd My latest book will hopefully be published around about October and is a follow on to War Torn Book 1.
The idea came years ago whilst watching Das Boot and I wondered how things would change on a U-boat crew if a woman was on board. Answer, very little, it was a strict regime.
That was the start my characters took over and went down a path I hadn't anticipated, they almost write themselves. Now considering War Torn Book 3.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Jan Lloyd Edit and edit and edit. Before you give it someone else to take a look at.

What are you currently working on?
Jan Lloyd I am currently working on War Torn Book 2 after receiving it back from my editor.

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?
Jan Lloyd My great great grandmother became pregnant whilst in service and my grandmother was born in a workhouse. She was told her father was a lord.

How do you get inspired to write?
Jan Lloyd I walk in the forest every morning and do a great deal of thinking about my characters there. I quite often hot seat them, playing a scene in my head, taking on the persona of one character, and then replay it as the other character.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Jan Lloyd If I get a block I leave the chapter I am working on and move to a different place in the book. You don't have to work chronologically, the work isn't set in stone, so if you are stuck in one place, jump around a bit. Often your ideas change and you can go back to the bit you were stuck on and write it from a totally different perspective.
