Someone once told me that writer's block was a myth, that you had to "think outside the box" and the so-called block would disappear. I've come to the conclusion that this is a lie. Writer's block is real, and these days it loves toying with me.
For me, long drives are what get me through, and not long drives through a busy city - but country roads, where I can roll my windows down, crank the music, and let my mind roam free. I find that's when I get my best ideas, and where any potential outlining happens. Sometimes I'll pull over and jot down notes, but usually, the story cements itself in my mind and I can get right back to work - until the next time that dreaded block hits.
