Lew Paper My most recent book was Perfect: Don Larsen's Miraculous World Series Game and the Men Who Made It Happen. I attended a Yankee Fantasy Baseball camp on two occasions. Don Larsen was there, and he always spoke about his perfect game in the 1956 World Series between the Yankees and the Dodgers -- the only no-hit game in World Series history. I was thinking about it one day at the beach, and it dawned on me that most people -- including baseball fans -- knew very little about a lot of the players who played in that game, including Dale Mitchell, the Dodger pinch-hitter who struck out for the last out. And so it seemed to me that it would be useful (and fun for me) to write a book that would integrate profiles of the players who were on the field with the details of how the game unfolded.
Lew Paper No inspiration -- I just found that I enjoyed the process.
Lew Paper Trying to market Deadly Risks, my thriller about John Kennedy's assassination, which just came out in paperback. Also pursuing various ideas for my next project.
Lew Paper Write what you know -- or at least what holds your interest. It's the old saw about, if you do what you love, you will love what you do.
Lew Paper I enjoy the research on a topic that interests me -- you can learn so much from how people deal with problems. And I love the creative process of trying to figure out a way to say something that will hopefully generate interest in that topic.
