Hey Richard. I had a former career as a graphic artist, so I designed my own cover. As of yet, I haven't done any ad campaigns or the usual recommendations for self promotion. I've sent my book to a couple of people and asked for their honest reviews and I've been active here. In the near future I will probably run Amazon/Google ads and put up a website.

Hey Richard. I did, and I received two publishing contracts from different companies, but in the end neither worked out for different reasons. When I was going through the process, I had a bad experience with an incompetent editor and it made me think twice about signing over the rights to my work and relinquishing editorial control of my book. I decided that I would be happier publishing the book that I wanted to write, and not a bastardized version that too many people had their hands in.

I love creating worlds where I can explore conflicts and relationships between reality and the supernatural. As a writer with a blended heritage, I grew up hearing stories from my grandfather about our indigenous culture. I've always been intrigued by this connection and it inspired me to research the history of Texas from different vantage points, examining the violent convergence of Mexico, Texas, and the Comanche Empire. While it may be unsettling, I feel that it is disingenuous to write historical fiction through a modern lens. Fiction is a place to explore ideas and raise discussions, and writers of historical fiction must write about the world as it was, in the timeline of their work.

While frequently driving from Abilene, TX to the Rio Grande Valley, I began to notice several landmarks and interesting locations around the state. As I drove, I would visualize the people and conflicts that took place in these areas. A few years later, I started researching another project and found several historical links to these locations that piqued my interest.

When I was a small boy I saw a shadowy figure peering through the windows of my bedroom. It moved from one window to another, pressing its face against the glass. I ran out of the room and told my father that someone was trying to break into the house. When he went outside to investigate, no one was there. No one was ever caught or identified, but the next morning at school, several children that lived in the neighborhood shared similar stories about a shadow man lurking around their houses the night before.
