Rosemary Reeve Hello, Joan! Thank you so much for reading my books, and for your question. I wrote the Jack Hart books chapter by chapter to entertain my mom when I was working in Seattle and she was homebound in Salt Lake City and dissatisfied with the novels my dad was bringing her from the library. As my parents’ need for care increased, I moved home and had little time for writing. I published the books after my parents passed away. I am working on the next book and am enjoying revisiting some lovely memories. All the best to you.

Rosemary Reeve Like every other normal person, I sometimes find myself thinking, "What a fantastic place to kill someone!" And then the story just starts to unfold in my mind.

That's how "Only the Good" began. At the time, I was traveling to a lot of cities that had pulp and paper mills. The mills always looked eerie to me -- lighted at night and wreathed in steam. Every time I went by them, I would think what a great setting they would be for a murder -- all that interesting, potentially lethal, machinery and atmospheric fog. And then I read about a skeleton found in the paper mill up in Bellingham, and I knew I had my venue.
Rosemary Reeve I'm getting the fourth Jack Hart book ready for publication! Look for "Dead Weight" to hit the shelves in August!
Rosemary Reeve "No Good Deed" feels ripped from today’s headlines – a police officer charged with shooting an unarmed man; racial tension; riots demanding accountability. But I wrote it more than 20 years ago.

I was looking for a nightmare scenario for my two main characters, Jack Hart and Harmony Piper, who are young civil litigators at a large law firm. I started to wonder how they would react if their best friend were charged with murder.

Jack’s and Harmony’s best friend is Mark Oden, a police officer who was a secondary character in “All Good Things.” As I considered possible reasons for a murder charge against Mark, there were two police shootings in the Seattle area.

In “No Good Deed,” I was trying to create a scenario that would be everyone’s worst nightmare. Tragically, more than twenty years later, it still is.
