One of my friends invited me to go with her to a SASS competition in Wyoming. SASS is the Single Action Shooting Society--a group that dresses in Victorian clothing and participates in shooting stages with old-style revolvers, rifles, and shotguns. Before I went with her, I wasn't much of a "gun" person. But I had so much fun, that for a time, I was a member of the group. One day, I realized how much fun it would be to write about Utah cowboys and a similar shooting competition. Thus, the Taggart Brothers Novels were born.

The people I meet and the places I'm able to visit. I love going to conferences or travelling to get new ideas. Other than that, there's a rush when a story is progressing well.

I have a couple of methods. The first is to have a binge marathon of movies with a similar time period or theme. If that doesn't work, I set a goal for myself--like ten pages a day. Then, I'm not allowed to move away from the computer until I've finished my goal.
