Stan Yan I rarely get writer's block, but I find I'm most inspired when my mind is idle. Taking showers, walks, sitting in stop-and-go traffic all make my mind wander, and that's where my best ideas come from.
Stan Yan Chicks and dough.

I love chicken pot pie. I think that's what writers eat, right?

Stan Yan Follow your passions. Don't force yourself to write what you don't want to. But, also join a critique group so you can get some helpful feedback along the way.
Stan Yan I'm working on drawing a graphic novel about my best friend's battle with cancer, "Regret: A Cancer Survivor's Story". I'm also working on a manuscript for a middle grade graphic novel.
Stan Yan I don't really ever need inspiration. I generally get my inspiration from everyday life and things around me. Then I take those things a step further and look at the absurdity in them. Generally, whatever makes me laugh is fodder for stories.
Stan Yan My 3 1/2 year old son inspired the writing of "There's a Zombie in the Basement" when he refused to come down to my basement studio one day. When his mom asked him why not, he said, "I'm afraid." When she asked him what he was afraid of, he pointed at my zombie artwork hanging from my walls.
