Mark Cotton Write. Even if it feels uncomfortable or like you can never do it. Just try it. You'll be surprised how much writing becomes like reading a story that someone else has already written that was just waiting for you to come along and type it out.
Mark Cotton Reading the work of others. Watching good drama on TV and in movies. Studying how stories work.

Mark Cotton I've got several things in the works, at different stages of development, including a rom-com screenplay, a novel about three friends in the tech industry bound together by a plot to embezzle a small fortune, a novel about a teenage girl in 1950's Texas searching for answers about her father's death, a screenplay and series bible for a sci-fi-ish story about an alien life-force and its evil human liaison, and a few others. I'm also working on an idea for a series of novels centered around Carter Branch, "The House Guy", a character I introduced in Twice the Heist.
Mark Cotton I keep several projects in process at all times, and when I run into a snag on one, I'll look over my others and find something that sparks my interest there.
