I asked myself what is one of the most disgusting creatures on the planet. Next to rats, maggots, and cockroaches, I decided on slugs -- then I combined the most repulsive qualities of all of the above and threw in some horrific talents they would have. Once I had the right characters, the story practically wrote itself.

I'm in between short stories right now, but my novel SINKHOLE is scheduled to be published late August. I'll be finding ways to get the word out, as I'm sure my publisher and publicist will be doing too.

Get as many neutral people to read and honesty appraise your work before you submit it. (That eliminates family and close friends who will tell you what they think you want to hear.) A writers' circle or online writers' group is a good start because you're sharing with other writers who probably know their craft better than you do if you're just starting out.
