Anne Marie Bennett Come As You Are: Years ago when I moved to Salem, Massachusetts, I attended a teen center production of the musical Godspell, and I immediately became involved in the characters and wondered about their personal lives. This came a few years after hearing a minister say that Jesus's invitations to His disciples was like a "come as you are party."

Dragonflies at Night: I have to say that I've harbored a little crush on Josh Groban for many years now! As I've followed him on Twitter and attended some of his concerts, I found myself wondering how difficult it might be for a celebrity to find someone who loves them for who they really are. Part of me wanted to find a partner like that for Josh, and the more I pondered this, the more the characters of Ben and Savannah made themselves known to me.
Anne Marie Bennett Right now I am playing with a story about a motherless little boy who finds a friend in 50-something Claire who lives on his street. Their friendship begins with Claire's lilac bushes and grows into something bigger than both of them could hope for.
Anne Marie Bennett My best advice is to get out pen and paper, or sit yourself down at your computer.. and BEGIN. Just write whatever pops into your mind. Get it all down. There will be time later for revising and editing. There are plenty of places online that can provide you with writing prompts, should you need them.
Anne Marie Bennett I'm not sure I really believe in "writer's block." I believe that there are times when the creativity isn't flowing, and I have learned to accept that just as it is. I know that the non-flow times are just as important as the flowing times and that it's all part of the creative process. For me, it's helpful to commit to a minimum of one hour a day, three times a week, for what I call my Writing Practice. And it's just that... sitting down at my laptop and writing whatever flows out, even if it's "junk." The most powerful thing for me is the commitment, and the showing up.
