Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Pamela Cuming I came across a story of an orphan boy who found an old cigar box in an abandoned camps. He started putting things in the box that he thought would protect him from strangers. A four-leaf clover would bring him luck and ward off evil spirits. Poisonous berries could be used against his enemies. The pull-off tab from a soda can would serve as a magic shield. The box gave him courage, and helped him believe that no obstacle was so greast that it couldn't be overcome.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Pamela Cuming I go for a walk, or watch a movie.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Pamela Cuming Trust yourself. Don't be critical. Free write and simply enjoy the process. Evaluate and edit later.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Pamela Cuming I especially love writing fiction. I can escape into worlds of my own making at any time, day or night.

What are you currently working on?

Pamela Cuming a non-fiction combination of self-help and memoir about aging well and dying with dignity. It's entitled The Hourglass.
