Janet Clark Shay Writing is like physical exercise. The more you do it, the more you want to do it! Sometimes the writing needs to come even before the inspiration arrives. The hardest part of physical exercise is those first few days when you're out of shape, out of breath, and in general have little inspiration. As with physical exercise, so it is with writing. The energy, the excitement, and the fulfillment all grow as we keep on the move.
Janet Clark Shay The only way I deal with writer's block is to tackle it by writing. When left to grow on its own, writer's block eventually stops me from writing altogether. Take a short break, perhaps even a few days rest, but write even when you seemingly have nothing to write about. Work through it, or it will kill your ambition to write.
Janet Clark Shay If I could answer only one question about writing, it would be without a doubt to write something every day. Don't wait until you are in the mood. Write. Our writing grows by writing, not merely by thinking about what we're going to write someday.
