We get inspired by unplugging from everyday life and getting out in the world. It's hard to fire up your imagination when you're in the same old routine, seeing the same old things, day after day. Getting on the road together, towing the camper to some new destination is the place is the easiest place to dream up new ideas.

We take turns. We (J.N. Root) are two people -- the "J" and the "N". Sometimes we go entire weeks where one of us is plowing ahead with ideas but the other one is busy, blocked, or just not in the mood. Switching back and forth lets each of us write when we're most ready to.

Being able to steer the story wherever your imagination takes you. Reading a book can be so much fun, like being on a rollercoaster. Writing one is like being on a rollercoaster you can steer, which is wild.

Currently working on book 2 of the RV Adventures series, "Violet's Ghost". This one takes place in New Hampshire and may or may not involve ghosts, skeletons, and more of the special side trips that Dot and Paul took in book 1.

Camping, of course! There's a lot of wonderful downtime around a campground if you haven't over-scheduled yourself. The idea for the series came first. We wanted to write books that would connect with kids who RV with their families or might want to someday. There's a whole universe that exists at campgrounds that feels very unique and is ripe for imagination.
