My most recent book, "The New Age: Coming to a Church Near You," is a compilation of articles I have written over the years as I watched and wrote about how New Age teaching practices at first crept into and then flooded into our churches, Sunday Schools, Bible studies, and Christian media. These have been overtly spoon-fed and subliminally force-fed to Christian adults, youth, and children via the pulpit, church promoted literature and films (for all ages) and are systematically undermining biblical faith.

I can't not write. I am inspired by so many things around me every day, most especially in my calling as a Bible teacher and women's advocate. I'm inspired to write when I notice that most true crime TV shows would have over 50% fewer cases to document without domestic violence murders to draw from. Just today, I was inspired by a comment someone left on one of my YouTube videos. When my children were small, I was inspired by their youthful wonderings (Mommy, does Jesus have a light saber?). I have so many notes of things that inspire me to write, I doubt I can get to all of them in my lifetime.

Writer's block. Hmm. Almost every time I open my word processor to work on my novel, I feel like I have writer's block. I just know I will NEVER be able to think of another word to add to the story. When I get bogged down with no fresh ideas, I begin reading through a document of plot and character ideas/needs and loose ends, things I was not quite ready to work on at the time I jotted them down but know I will get to later. I add to this document each time I work on my manuscript, and reading through it generally proves helpful if writer's block sets in. My organization for this document is extravagantly simple. Notes and ideas get filed under the character's name the idea most closely associates with. That way, I don't end up with a confusing mass of less-than-helpful notes. Another thing I do to combat writer's block, is to begin reading through what I have already written. Almost without fail, my story and characters draw me in, and before I know it, I find myself cured of writer's block!

For me, the best thing about being a writer, is the sense of purpose and satisfaction that comes from making my own small contribution to making a positive difference in people's lives. Though I often deal with controversial subjects (wherein the building and the planting of the new, must be preceded by the exposing and the tearing down of the old), my message is a message of hope and change. I frequently hear from readers who tell me what I have written, has helped them make sense of situations or issues they have struggled with (i.e., abuse, domestic violence, and equality questions).
