Always remember that you are the performer and your readers are the audience. Therefore, give them what THEY want, not what YOU want or what you think they SHOULD want. That doesn't mean selling out or dumbing down; it means carefully researching your market and writing for it.
If all this sounds grubby and commercial, by all means write from the heart and you might end up writing a world bestseller. But in all probability you won't, and the book you think is amazing will languish in the bargain basement until it disappears into the bottomless pit of Amazon's algorithm.

Just keep writing every day, even if it's only one sentence. The key is getting started. Even some of the greatest writers only wrote 500 words a day.
