Nils and Julianna from my novel Julianna’s Secret. They are portrayed on the cover of my book. Nils is the stammering paperboy who has a crush on beautiful Julianna. She, in turn, flirts with him to boost his ego. Of course, Nils represents innocence in the novel. He gives Julianna the hope she needs to carry on. Years later, Nils grows into a handsome, towering man. His unconditional love for Julianna forces her to choose between a life of seclusion and bitterness or a life filled with peace and joy.

My last novel is BLOOD, INNOCENCE AND GLORY. I just published it last month. Civil War history is extremely interesting and very popular. Since I live in Illinois, we have a lot of history here. I set my novel in Illinois and adjacent Missouri.

Writing was always in me. When I was in junior high, the teachers at my school asked my friend and I to write the school play and the script for our production of "The Sound of Music." Making the audience laugh is a thrill. My friend and I wrote on the phone for hours. Our parents always had to break in with the operator. That was before Call Waiting.

I published 5 novels this year and returned to college for 3 professional certifications. I'm marketing my novels through my blog and social media. Plus, I'm writing articles for my blog. That takes a lot of time. I need a break!

Don't give up! I was rejected and considered a "failure" for over 20 years while all my girlfriends were making decent money. I turned down good job offers to finish my novels. Even my family poked fun at me, but I had to finish what God called me to do.
