From a news post about a young female Marine who had to take over in the middle of a battle because their commander was wounded. She directed fire, called in air support and let her unit safely back to base. She's gutsy besides being pretty. She had all the stuff hero's are made of. I had mine get wounded and come home in a wheelchair. Read The Valley of Decision to get the full story. I think you'll like it.

I don't actually know. I do know people read novels as a form of entertainment. Perhaps it is the same with me. I do feel good after a good days writing.

Develop a thick skin. Even great authors get critical reviews. The first Western Writers of America convention I attended I heard a group of people laughing and making fun of Louis L'Amour's writing. The man sold over 200,000,000 books, and they are still selling. Some people feel it is their sworn duty to trash a new book. The next person will love it.

The freedom to create any world with any type of people and animals you want. I write historical fiction, so I have all of history with all their problems and good to work with. I'll never run out of things to write about.

I don't allow it to kill the story I'm working on. Some writers exercise or do something different other than write. But if I am hit writer's block, I write anything. It might be total garbage and I might delete it all later, but it does get writing again.
