How do I get inspired to do anything? Need, desire, passion? I suspect it's the same for many creative people, but it's like an itch that must be scratched. Of course if I'm tired, worried or depressed I'm going to feel less than inspired.

Don't get stuck in analysis paralysis by overthinking. Write your book, put things you need to research or plan out better in brackets or something, then come back later and fix it.

The best thing is creating a story, a world really, that I can lose myself in. If other people enjoy it enough to get lost in it too, then I'm happy.

Usually getting some rest helps. I'm very scatter-brained when I'm tired and inspiration just isn't there. Otherwise, I'm usually playing a computer game or watching some anime to inspire ideas.

It started off as a redo of my first book, Black Adder. The publisher was, let's just say, predatory, and basically tied up my rights to the story. They then went out of business without nullifying the publishing contract. Now that they're out of the picture, I'm free to write again, though Black Adder will never be for sale again. Perhaps I can refresh it as a free ebook at some point.
What started as an idea for a redo has blossomed into a brand new story with entirely different characters that I expect will span at least 7 books in a series. Really the only thing in common with Black Adder is that vampires are again the focus.
