My historical fantasy romance, Warlord, releases 6/15/20. It was totally triggered by another book, Spirit Awakened, that I wrote in 2011. Those characters remained with me this whole time, and although Warlord is written as a stand-alone, I know they are responsible. I think it is the best fantasy I have written since my award-winning trilogy, The Chronicles of Alcinia.

Connecting with nature has a lot to do with it. I am fortunate to live in the country where the land, the animals and the lifestyle in general give me inspiration. My mind sort of roams as I am working with the animals or tromping through the fields and the next thing you know, I start writing.

Right now I am fine-tuning two historical romances, a prequel and sequel to my book The Comet, set against the Norman invasion of England in 1066. Then an entirely new concept came flying into my head--a pre-Bronze Age ancient times romance. Now that may be a challenge.

Keep doing it. Even when you get a paragraph or a chapter you dont think is "really" that good, save it. You will be amazed how often it will eventually come out in a book.

You just have to let it roll. Every time I think it's permanent, multiple books come rolling out, so I have learned it is just my subconscious way of gearing up.

I totally want to visit the world in my Chronicles of Alcinia. That book was SO real to me as I was writing it, I could just disappear there.

I think this will be the summer of research. Although it's not as entertaining as a good novel, I do thoroughly enjoy it. In the back of my mind I have some inkling of an historical about the fall of Carthage. Talk about tackling an elephant!
