I'm a WHAT IF person. I can "what if" almost any subject to death. And that's how I write. What if, what if, what if -- then what? It's almost like writing for-next loops or if-then loops in BASIC programming. And the best part is that whatever I come up with, the end result* of that is always changing during the writing process. Because I ask "what if" all the way through. "What if instead of x, y happens?" "And if y happens, how does that affect z?" And so forth. Writing is very organic and fluid for me. Always an adventure.

(view spoiler)[As I was thinking on the original ending of MIDNIGHT, I got to thinking about Sami's daughter as an adult. I had a clear as day image of her (Destiny) standing on the outcropping at Cumberland Gap, looking into Virginia, the wind caught in her hair. That's how the second Midnight story was born (also told from Sami's viewpoint, as are all the Midnight stories (but one)).
But then about two years ago around this time, I couldn't take the poking and prodding any longer and gave in to friends' and muse demands that I try my hand at Young Adult fiction. So of course Destiny sprang immediately to mind.
At first, her story was going to simply (ha ha!) be MIDNIGHT from her 15 year old point of view. But as I was taking notes, I realized that was wrong. Destiny has her own problems, her own life, and her own stories to tell.
And with that, her first story grew so large that I had to split it into three books. I'm working on all three concurrently. (hide spoiler)]
