Our lives are full of mysteries. I don't mean unanswered questions about our lives, but the events that have happened that could be the bits and pieces that make up a mystery. The old saying "write what you know" comes to mind. My next book will be based upon observations made during one period of my life. You have a unique perspective on how the events in your life have unfolded. It doesn't have to be something spectacular. Something mundane can become spectacular, like the story of how a bored bureaucrat's life gets out of control over a spelling error, i.e., 'Brazil', by Terry Gilliam.

Sometimes we need a distraction from what we are focused on so our subconscious can refresh itself and bring new energy to our projects. Setting clear goals and striving to stick to them can help stay the course. Research the field of writing. The groundwork has already been done. Read books on writing and the creative process. Join groups that help each other hone skills. Take an idea you are passionate about and spend time thinking about how a book about that idea would look. Don't worry about publication at the outset. Focus on creating something, or two or three ideas, and see how they come out.

I am working on a crime/horror/occult novel with roots reaching back to the third century. It has required a great deal of research into Celtic mythology and Norse history. I hope to start the process of publication in the next 2-3 months.

The idea for The Cure came from a newspaper article describing a unique set of circumstances involving a fraudulent scheme being executed in conjunction with a highly successful breast cancer clinical trial conducted by a leading research investigator.
My current project (close to completion) is a product of inspiration that led to extensive research on the subject of Celtic mythology to flesh out the story.
