Ted Iverson I usually will go for a walk and of course listen to my soundtrack library to clear my distracted mind. Sometimes I will move onto another project that I have started. That seems to help a lot. Seems that in the middle of writing one thing, ideas for whatever I was having difficulty with appear from nowhere.
Ted Iverson For me it's a release from my daily job. Most of all, when someone tells me that they enjoyed my books, I feel a sense of pride knowing that, while that person read my novel, they were able to forget everyday problems. I think that is really important.
Ted Iverson My advice is simple. Read everything you can get your hands on, all genres. Read a lot of books on writing and most of all, spend as much time as you can writing. Even thirty minutes a day if that is all you can spare. What you write doesn't even have to be good as long as you write. It's easier to go back and clean up what you wrote than to go back and add.
Ted Iverson Currently I am writing way outside my wheelhouse. I am trying to pull off a Pink Panther type of novel. One, with all the silly jokes, something fun. It still will have sci-fi undertones, but yet have a good story to it. After writing three novels in a series, I felt it was time to do something different.
Ted Iverson I have to be in the right surrounding and mood. I love to listen to movie soundtracks to inspire me. With me, the music sets the tone of the scene I am writing. If it's action, maybe Indiana Jones, Suspense, could be Stargate. It just depends. Music really inspires my creativity.
Ted Iverson In Arbitration, I wanted to do something different than the first two in the series. Each one continues where the other leaves off. I didn't really have any one particular idea in mind when I started. The book just wrote itself really. The events unfolded as I wrote. I prefer to write that way. Even when I start a synopsis for my books, it works that way. No real idea, I just start writing and see where I go. I really think that you, the reader, will really enjoy!
Arbitration, the latest in the Mission to the stars series, has actually been done for quite some time. The release was delayed due to heath problems with my editor. we are now on track for a May 25th of 2018 release.
