Steve Gilreath Sell Montana is set 10 years in the future, and finds our country more divided, more challenged from a government standpoint: overspending, bloated structure, etc. I am a bit of a futurist and found myself wondering one day, "how will we ever recover from all this overspending? What will our country look like if we mortgage our future?" Then, I read a story about a flying car in development...real Jetsons kind of stuff...and I was off and running with a book set in the future, hindered by the problems caused by our decisions made today!
Steve Gilreath It's time. Writing is how I exhale and I never look at it as a labor or heavy lifting. I inspire myself because it's a reward for taking a break from a hectic work or travel schedule.
Steve Gilreath It's the same as learning any craft, including songwriting (a common topic around here in Nashville!) Just start. Start now- don't spend time getting comfortable or overly organized- just start. See what flows. Scratch out your first thoughts, an outline if you must or even a bit of dialouge. But just start writing and then keep moving. Go back later and polish/edit. Don't let grammar slow you down when ideas are flowing. Just write! And do a little every day. It's easy to think about writing just one page, right? Do that for a year and you'll have a novel!! Start yet?
