I wrote my short story Yanka and the Dragons as a fundraiser idea for Compassion International. I love fantasy, and I wanted to create something that readers of all ages would enjoy. Now, that has burned an idea for an entire series into my soul and it won't leave me alone until it's on a page.

For NaNoWriMo, I decided to start Book 1 in my Dragon Watcher series. It's a seven book series that follows my short story Yanka and the Dragons. I'm pretty excited about it. Right now, it might be a little too Harry-Potterish...but I'll work that out and make it its own.

Sometimes I step away from the project, just for a moment. Focus on something else.
Most of the time, I try to push through. I know I'll end up with a lot of garbage that won't make it through my first round of edits, but at least something was put on the page. Usually, that's all it takes before the fountain flows freely again.
