Read a lot! Read books in your genre so you get a feel for what's been done, what the expectations are of the genre and what readers are enjoying.

Writer's block? What's that? Never heard of it!
Just kidding. I get it all the time. I find it helps me to have more than one project going at a time. If I get stuck when I'm writing one book, I'll work on editing another, or I'll write some poetry to take my mind off whatever brought me to a standstill. Also, I tend to write my stories out of order. I'll write the beginning, then the end, then another scene that I had in my mind. That kind of gives me the chance to move on to a scene somewhere else in the book, so progress doesn't come to a complete halt.

You get paid to lie and make things up.

I'm writing the sequel to my first book, Odd Men Out. It's slow going, but so far, it's a lot of fun. I'm also outlining another possible book in the series.

Any number of things inspire me, but usually ideas come to me at the worst times. I have notebooks scattered throughout the house and in the car, just so I don't miss any good story concepts, dialogue or plot twists that drop into my head.
I really start with characters first, and then get inspired to put them into situations that lead to the overall story.

I got it from reading Elmore Leonard books and watching nature clips on Youtube.
