Shakir Rashaan Yes and no ... whew! Depends on the number of characters I have going on in a book. If it isn't that many, then yeah, I remember them easily.
Shakir Rashaan There's a story in my family, on my father's side, where the family's surname was changed because my great-great-grandfather, according to what was told to me as a small boy by my father, was a bootlegger and had been accused of murder. To avoid the authorities, he moved to Georgia and took on a new name, and that became the surname of the family line from then on. I think it would be interesting to find out what happened way back then and turn it into a book.
Shakir Rashaan Two words: people watching! You can create anything out of people watching!
Shakir Rashaan I'm currently working on three projects: a Paranormal YA book series called South Hampton High, the next book in my Kink, P.I. series, Reckoning, and an anthology of my novellas and short stories.
Shakir Rashaan Learn the business! You want to come to the table with knowledge and understanding so that you know what to do and how to function when it does come time to negotiate and deal with traditional publishers. At the very least, you will know how to go through the process yourself!
Shakir Rashaan The best thing about being a writer is being able to create worlds on a daily basis. The more unique the world, the better I like it!
Shakir Rashaan I write daily...like, DAILY! So, I don't have writer's block because I write daily...whether it's my blog, or status messages, ANYTHING to keep my juices flowing. So, on those days where I don't feel like writing, I simply find something to write that has nothing to do with the project I'm focusing on.
