Lisa M. Davis It is told in the book "Meghan and Harry's Alternative Universe" - their antics drove me to write - I was just the scribe...
Lisa M. Davis Ummm...Meghan and Harry - but there is a really good explanation!

(...see above if you don't believe me...)
Lisa M. Davis "There Is No Mystery To Fate" - the sequel to "Meghan and Harry's Alternative Universe."
Lisa M. Davis Now at 63 having written my first book I regret not paying attention to all the stories that were right in front of me. I travelled all over the world all my life; I created three successful businesses; I had interesting and challenging relationships. I now see everything is a story.

But I think - as I had to - you have to wait for the spark and listen to it. That is a less glorious name for a muse I suppose.

I had one four months ago - a spark which was my muse. I always thought a muse would be alluring, erudite, temperamental and compelling me to follow.

Instead, I got Megahn and Harry (if you don't know who they are, count yourself lucky) - so I almost missed it because how can nitwits be a muse?

But, they so inflamed me with their self-absurd antics and theater of the absurd life, I wrote a book.

It is actually really funny and has great reviews, but it is certainly nothing that I would have envisioned or planned.

I knew I could write - because I used it to write business plans and execute on them all my life - but I had no idea I had such a written satiric wit. I discovered it in the book, because of the book, because my muses brought it out in me.

Am I embarrassed that I ended up with Meghan and Harry as my muses?

Only sort of...because they did their job and now, I am well into the sequel....
Lisa M. Davis It is something I only dreamed about - but it is better. I am very proud about it, and I am not a prideful person by nature. I have had a lot of success in my life - but this is special for me.
Lisa M. Davis I only have been writing for four months but I think I had it the other day. My 81 year old neighbor innocently asked about the sequel I was working on;

"Is it going to be as funny as the first book?"

I freaked out. It was a Sunday and I had dedicated the whole day (which is hard for me) to writing as I am on a very tight deadline to publish te sequel (self-imposed).

I decided it wasn't. It never would be. The story had become too dark. it was impossible. It would be a failure.

I took the day off and read a really good book - and got even more intimidated as it was such a great so well written. I told my partner I was going to stop work on the book. He shrugged.

Yesterday (this is a true story), I finally got onto Goodreads on the advice of my real Muse Penny Bun.

I discovered a whole new world - a fascinating world for me. I saw that not only was my three-month old-born (book) in the search engine but when I called it up, I had two five-star reviews...one hoping "for more..."

I spent all day yesterday writing and when I finish answering these questions I hope to spend the rest of the day doing the same.
Lisa M. Davis She knew what was in the by its wrapping and she looked at him filled with love as she smiled at him and shook the box. Tearing it open she did not find the onyx pendant she coveted, she found a garrote and she looked at him in fear and he smiled at her.
Lisa M. Davis Paris in the 30's in Jean Rhys' Quartet. I read the book (well, all of hers) in my 20's. On a whim at 30 I moved to Paris to the exact 'hood - Montparnasse - she wrote about. I haunted the same bars and restaurants. My place was la Closeries Des Lilas. I had my seat at the bar. My table on the terrace. My lovers. My adventures. I stayed in Paris for seven years. I would have been able to see the world I inhabited (and thought I would remain in forever) sixty years in the past. The Pianist, Andre, who always played "As Time Goes By" the minute I walked in probably was born around then as he was in his sixties when I met him. So I would not have re-lived my life, I would have pre-lived my life - or maybe I did?
Lisa M. Davis I don't plan ahead - in general and with books -- they somehow appear in my hands (well, on my iPad)...once I find an author I like I will read all his/her books but then wait for the next gift from the gods...
Lisa M. Davis How I could wake up one day and write a book (my first) and publish it three months to the day later. Where was it all that time?
