Hi! My agent is pitching the third book to a final publisher this fall (2021). If they reject it, I may publish a summary of the third book along with the 100 pages I have written on Wattpad. That's the plan for now anyway. ;)

Hi friend! Looks like the only place it's available that would ship internationally is Amazon.

Hi Alyson,
My agent actually tried to sell the third book to a different publisher and, unfortunately, they didn't bite. Thirds books in series don't sell as well as first books, so it would most likely have to be Scholastic (the original publisher) who purchased it, and they've firmly declined.
I may self-publish one day, but self-publishing takes a ton of time (even more than traditionally-publishing) and money, with no guarantee of getting that money back through sales. Financially, it makes more sense to publish a new book than the third in an older series.
Having said all that, my heart is still with the series. And I do dabble in it. I'm just going slowly and not putting pressure on myself as I don't want to ruin the first two books by forcing myself into a third. But I realize Tella, Guy, and Madox (and their crew) need closure.
It's easier for me, because I know how it ends. But I realize you guys love this series and need to see that ending on paper. I'm hesitate to say I've been working every morning on putting my files together to start a new writing project - and F&F 3 is near the top of that list. So maybe soon! It just will take a TON of work to read back through the first two books and create a story that properly pulls it all together...after all this time.
I'm also running goScribbler.com right now, which demands the majority of my attention as it pays the bills. Ha! But...don't lose hope. I haven't. :)

Rest assured, they are solid as stone forever.

Sure! Go for it. As long as you aren't making a profit from it, I don't mind. Would love to see the finished product!!

Hi! I tried to answer this in other asked questions, but I'll answer here too! *smile* Thank you so, so much for your support! It warms my writerly heart. Unfortunately, the publisher (and others) have passed on publishing a third book in this series. So for now, I must focus on completing books that have been contracted.
The truth is that while readers LOVE the story, not enough purchased the book to make publishers feel comfortable contracting a third book. It happens to many beautiful trilogies, unfortunately, which is why it's so important to purchase a copy of books you love--just as you did!

Hi! I usually write around 90,000 words in my books. That equates to about 360 pages because I write short chapters.

I wish I had better news for you, Cora, but the publisher, Scholastic, elected not to buy a final book. It breaks my writerly heart, but please know I am very proud of my other work that's come out since then--HEAR THE WOLVES, TITANS, VIOLET GRENADE, and the upcoming WE TOLD SIX LIES. I hope you'll consider any of those to take the edge off saying goodbye to Tella and Guy. :)

Hi! You can email jbaker@victoriascott.com to order a signed copy. It's list price plus $3 for shipping inside the US. We don't currently ship anywhere besides the US, but I can mail signed bookplates to other countries.

Hi! The book isn't finished. I got about 1/3 of the way through when I got the news that it wouldn't be bought. At this point, we've exhausted all options we wanted to try. It seems, at long last, I must say goodbye to Tella and Madox. I may one day release a novella that wraps things up, but it would be a while. :(
Victoria Scott
Most likely not. My agent and I just hit another dead end on trying to sell the third book. And I have too many other projects to fulfill to publish it myself right now. :(
Victoria Scott
I am actively writing the third book, and my agent is talking with publishers to secure the best deal for putting this last story out there. We're far from a sure thing, but I am writing! I'm currently 120 pages into the first draft. :)
Victoria Scott
No news yet, but I'll admit that things are beginning to fall into place now more than they were a year ago. That's something!!

"Salt" represents the ocean, and "Stone" represents the mountains. :)

(view spoiler)[Hi Misti,
I see Dizzy starting a relationship with someone who he allows himself to care more deeply about. Perhaps a beautiful boy this time. In the end though, I think Dizzy isn't someone who gets weighted down by long-term relationships. He's an explorer, an adventurer, and a traveler (one day!). He'll have many lovers, and many explorations, but I don't see him getting married with children. And he's happy with that life of complete and utter freedom, because Dizzy would never be lonely. I'm playing with the idea of writing it after my 2018 release, publisher or no. We'll see!

I'm reading a lot of adult books right now. Since I write young adult, it helps to separate my work / pleasure worlds.

I'm still hoping that one day I can make this happen. The publisher doesn't want a third book, so we're looking at other publishers as a possibility. Thank you for your support and patience. :)

We have a member in my family that passed away that absolutely no one speaks of. If you raise questions, they get brushed off. There's something behind this story, but I'm not sure I want to look inside that particular closet. *shivers*

It's not distributed there yet, but you can always order through BookDepository.com, which ships anywhere in the world for free. :)
