Ian Mathie Thank you for asking.

Trying always to keep myself busy, I have several works in progress. Two are still in the memoir genre; one about my earliest years growing up in the African bush, and the other is about events in Iran just after the revolution that removed the Shah. One of these might be ready by late next year.

In the short term, I hope that the revised, second edition of my original African book, The Man of Passage, will be out in paperback, and as an e-book, before the end of this year.

Having stuck to non-fiction so far, I have also branched out into fiction this year, with the release of my first novel, Chinese Take-out, as an e-book at Easter. Two other novels are in the melting pot: The Rorhart Inheritance, which is a family saga, party set in Africa, is in final editing, and another, as yet untitled book, about sorcerers.
Ian Mathie I don't generally get writer's block, but if the job becomes tedious I lay it aside for a few days, or even weeks, and write something else. Then I come back with a fresh eye and carry on.
Don't fight writer's block, sidestep it.
Ian Mathie It allows me to relive some wonderful times by sharing them with readers in print.
Ian Mathie Believe in yourself, keep trying to improve and learn from all comments. Try to avoid getting closed minded because you feel you got it right and someone else points out scope for improvement. And keep writing.
Ian Mathie A lifetime living and working in the African bush gives one lots of stories to tell.
Ian Mathie It was a story that needed to be told. The cultures it grew from are fast disappearing, and i would hate them to pass unrecorded. Also, many people asked me to tell them more about some of the experiences I had had with African sorcerers, so I wrote Sorcerers and Orange Peel.
