Laurie Gray Hi Natalie,

Thank you for sending me a message. I’m so glad that you liked Maybe I Will. I have two other young adult books that you might enjoy. My debut novel, Summer Sanctuary, is about a 12-year-old homeschooled preacher’s kid who meets a homeless teen at the library and invites her to live secrety lin his church for the summer. 5 of the 6 poems that Dinah writes in that book were actually written by me when I was in high school and junior high.

My other young adult novel, Just Myrto, is historical fiction set in Ancient Greece. Imagine being born in a time when women were treated like property and would prefer being slave to a kind master than given to a cruel husband in marriage. Myrto’s brother gives her to Socrates and she goes from being completely controlled by the men in her life to being empowered to make her own choices.

If you liked the idea that Sandy is never identified as male or female in the story and that the story can be read either way/both ways, you might also like the book Every Day by David Levithan. And if you haven’t yet read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, I highly recommend it.

Wishing you a summer filled with thought-provoking books,

Laurie Gray

P.S. I also have two nonfiction books, A Simple Guide to Socratic Parenting, and my most recent book The ABC’s of Sexual Assault.
