I'm a new writer myself, and the best advice I can give is just do it. I don't believe in writers block, I see it as an excuse, really... Just think about what your character would do and try to let them write the story. In my Markus and Angie series, I always think, what would Angie say, or what would Markus say or do? One thing I love about writing is the fact that you don't need a degree, or a license, or permission to do it, all you need is paper, pen or a computer and keyboard.

She reached for the gun, but her hand passed through the cold metal, gripping dark nothingness. The floating cloaked figure shook his head and smiled, without humor, as he called to her.

I don't know. I guess the simple answer would be, I don't get inspired to write, I just do it. In fact, most of my inspiration comes once I'm already deep into my writing. I'll be writing about a specific painting, for example, when all these idea start popping in my head. Sometimes I'll have to actually stop writing and makes notes of these ideas before I can continue.

A mystery series, involving a strong female lead, that digs deep into the greedy world of art. I've always been fascinated in art world and have always wanted to write about it. I thought this would be a perfect series to explore.

I can do this without hitting a time clock. I can write what I want, when I want and how I want, without having to answer to anyone. I'm my own boss.

Start writing short stories. You don't have to punch a time clock. You're not on any type of schedule, and you answer to no one. Don't say you don't have the time. And don't say, "Well what if it's not any good?" Because it will not be any good, starting out. Many writers will tell you that their first novel was a disaster, but they kept at it!

I usually have a pretty good idea where the story is going, and I always think, "what would the character be doing right now? At this very moment." That will usually get me back into some sort of direction. If that fails, then I go to the coffee shop and not think about it for a while.
