Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Tonya Lampley I wanted to tell a story from a male perspective. I wanted to examine relationships from a man's point of view and most importantly I wanted to show men who were on their own journey to truth...of uncovering what it truly means to be a man. The character just kind of popped into my mind. Once that happened, his story started to unfold and Damon was soon joined by his buddy Craig and all his shenanigans.

How do you get inspired to write?

Tonya Lampley Ideas just kind of come to me. I get flashes of insight and I think...ooh...that would make a great story. If I stay with the thought long enough, the characters start to emerge and the storyline starts to unfold. Typically, before I sit down to write, I have a skeleton of the story, including the ending. My stories typically explore love, sisterhood, manhood, faith, loyalty, fears, self-doubt...all the things that make us human. I'm always inspired to write about that!
