Trina L. Talma I don't really have mysteries in my life so much as I have conundrums. Like, "Why is grocery shopping so exhausting? Why won't the cat eat turkey Friskies when he loved it last week? Why is [random body part] hurting NOW?" But I wouldn't mind finding out why part of my basement stairwell wall is made of painted cardboard. The answer's probably something boring like "The wall started falling apart and the owner couldn't afford to get it fixed" or "The contractor was lazy/a fraud". But it could be something more interesting...
Trina L. Talma Well, every day I sacrifice a little bit of my sanity on an altar made up of spiral-bound notebooks and dozens of pens... Okay, that's not true. It's not every day. It really should be, but it isn't.

Really though my main ritual consists of turning my chair away from my computer screen and over to the other part of my desk where I have room for my notebook. All my first drafts are done the old-fashioned way: pen on paper. I find my thoughts come out better that way - plus if I get stuck I can always doodle in the margins. Usually I start work by typing up whatever I wrote in my last session, then keep the document open on my screen so I can refer to it as needed while I write.

I can write just about anywhere that isn't too noisy. All I need is a chair, a pen and some paper. Some background noise is good -- I prefer music over any other kind of background noise, and over complete silence.
Trina L. Talma Currently I'm working on two sequels. The first one is a sequel to my YA/speculative fiction novel Cherish the Fire; the other is a sequel to my Zania series which features two of Zania's children - daughter Arathel and son Radjann. They don't have real titles yet, but the latter book is tentatively titled This Dark Road.
