Which high school did you attend in Des Moines? (lincoln for me) Did you attend any Kansas City Royals games this year? for the first time in years i didnt attend any regular season games. ('12 through '14 i probably averaged 10 games a year. ) $2000 on a credit card for 6 '14 postseason games, including 3 ws games, put me in debt. this year i went to game 5 of alds, game 1 of alcs, and game 1 ws!
Kent Krause Thanks for the questions, Shane. I attended East High. The Royals won their first World Series when I was in 11th grade. In 2015 I made it to The K in August for a game against the White Sox. And I went to Game 2 of the World Series. Sounds like you witnessed a lot of great postseason baseball. It does get expensive, but money well spent! Go Royals!

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Kent Krause I write a crappy first draft that no one else will see. That gives me something to work with later.

Kent Krause The possibilities.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Kent Krause Read! ... but you already knew that. Read good stuff and bad stuff; you can learn from both. Take your work seriously, but don't take yourself too seriously (watch Authors Anonymous).

What are you currently working on?
Kent Krause A screenplay about a high school chess tournament. I'm also working on another screenplay about a gang of outlaw brothers in the Old West.

How do you get inspired to write?
Kent Krause By reading inspiring books and watching inspiring movies and TV shows.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Kent Krause The idea for "Behind in the Count" emerged from several different places, including: my previous book "Men Among Giants"; "Ball Four" by Jim Bouton; and the many different movies/stories about aging athletes trying to recapture past glories (e.g. For Love of the Game, Rocky Balboa, etc.).
