Thanks for the questions, Shane. I attended East High. The Royals won their first World Series when I was in 11th grade. In 2015 I made it to The K in August for a game against the White Sox. And I went to Game 2 of the World Series. Sounds like you witnessed a lot of great postseason baseball. It does get expensive, but money well spent! Go Royals!

The idea for "Behind in the Count" emerged from several different places, including: my previous book "Men Among Giants"; "Ball Four" by Jim Bouton; and the many different movies/stories about aging athletes trying to recapture past glories (e.g. For Love of the Game, Rocky Balboa, etc.).
