I'm looking forward to the next Sleeper Agent and whenever World War 3.X comes to audiobook. Any notion of when that'll be?
John Birmingham Sleeper3 is being recorded this week, so it should drop pretty soon. And I sent off the audio manuscripts for 3.1 and 3.2 about two weeks ago, so I'd expect them to come out soon, since I've been paid for them! WW 3.3 will be out in November. I'm so over waiting for my US publishers to edit and release the final Cruel Stars book that I've decided to deliver a lesson in what's possible. So I'm going to turn the final series of AoT books into an eight or nine-book saga that I release in its entirety over the next 12-18 months. That's more information than you asked for, but I'm very frustrated.

Dear John, Trust you had a good Christmas/New Year. It only occurred to me recently that I haven't seen any articles of yours in the Brisbane Times for some time. Admittedly, this could be me as I approach 60 and start failing to notice things around me, but I did look forward to your observations and writing style. John Birmingham Hey Patrick. Apologies for the delay in answering. It's that time of year. Sadly, no, you won't be seeing me at Brissy Times again. Fairfax/Nine cut a lot of their freelancers loose at the start of the pandemic.

John Birmingham Hey Bob. The audio exclusive period for ZDC ends in January, and i intend to release it the other formats then. With extra chapters.

John Birmingham I’ll finish writing it in the next month. I couldn’t tell you when they’ll release it. I dont think they know. Everything is so confused because of the virus. To be honest, I’m glad not to be coming out in the middle of it.

I just finished The Cruel Stars, simply loved it!, and wonder what your plans are for subsequent books. A trilogy or hopefully longer series perchance? My only complaint is that I can't pick up the next book and devour it right now! :D
John Birmingham Hi Emily. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have three big books planned in this series, and he second THE SHATTERED SKIES, is almost finished. However the accursed virus will see it delayed. DOUBLE HOWEVER - I'm going to do a bunch of ebooks to make up. A Hardy/Sephina origin story. Something for McLennan. And maybe more Sephina.

I've just finished reading "The Cruel Stars" and want to know when you will have the sequel ready for us? (The ending begs the question.) The characters are really quite likeable, I'd enjoy meeting them again. And so much humor throughout the book, thanks for all the laughs. - No offense, Lambright!

You must understand, John, the greedy ready has not a care the effort which goes into filling pages with the right word, or that the first books clearly transpire in some reality not ours as fast approach the dates of transition? I fancy a writer, I never say author though I could do someday as was my dream from childhood. Sorry to hear of health woes old chap. Foolishly I say, can I help?

John Birmingham I'm about to swing into it full time, Jeff. Once I do that it's usually about two months worth of writing, and one month in editing/production.

John Birmingham Hi Mark. Yes! I'm about 2/3 of the way through and hoping to finish it this month. It'll go to my beta readers for a week or so. Then copy editing. The cover art is done so it wont be long now. Just about to finish my morning coffee and write a Smith chapter.

John Birmingham Hey Ryan. I'm always happy to chat with a reader, although I don't always have time at a particular moment. I may have a reason to chat with you in the future. I'm working on an End of the World series at the moment and looking at various scenarios for collapsing civilisations with cyber weapons. Some readers are following the development of this series on Patreon. (I only just launched it there). But outside of that small community I'm always looking for people to talk to with interests/skills/information etc.
