Getting a chance to research incredible things...and share what inspires me with my children...At 5, they are excellent people to work through an idea with. Right now, we've been talking a lot about animals for a picture book of animal bones I'm researching. It's a joy!

Writer's block for me is usually uncertainty (and FEAR!) about how to tackle a project. The best way to move forward and through the fear is to just start writing on whatever it is I am afraid of, but I usually spend a day (or two...or THREE!) avoiding it...organizing the sock drawer, updating my website, going for a bike ride (which is never a bad thing), and volunteering at my kids' school library.

I feel very very lucky to be working with Sol Linero and the good folks at Wide Eyed Editions on a follow-up atlas to The 50 States. The next one (For Fall 2017) is 50 CITIES, and takes a close look at 50 cities in the U.S...I turn in about one city a week to the illustrator. Phoenix, AZ is due next!
